Bacon and Swiss Stuffed Mushrooms Air Fryer Recipe

By Joe

Welcome to The Oven Diaries, where we transform simple ingredients into elegant appetizers! Today, we're creating a crowd-pleasing classic with a gourmet twist: Bacon and Swiss Stuffed Mushrooms. Using your Plum Chef Air Fryer Oven, you can whip up these irresistible bites that are perfect for parties, holiday gatherings, or a sophisticated snack.

The magic of this recipe lies in its simplicity and the incredible texture achieved through air frying. The AIR FRY function at high heat works wonders - it perfectly roasts the mushroom caps until they're tender and juicy, while melting the Swiss cheese into a golden, bubbly blanket over the savory bacon. The result is a beautiful balance of earthy mushrooms, smoky bacon, and nutty, melted cheese that will disappear the moment you serve them.

Best of all, these stuffed mushrooms come together with just a few ingredients and minimal prep time. Let's create an appetizer that's sure to impress your guests with both its flavor and ease of preparation!

Bacon & Swiss Stuffed Mushrooms

Prep Time: 7 minutes
Cook Time: 8 minutes
Temperature: 230°C/450°F
Serves: 2-4 (as an appetizer)

INGREDIENTS:

  • 8 large white mushrooms, stems removed

  • 6 ounces Swiss cheese, shredded

  • ¼ cup cooked bacon, chopped

  • Spray oil, as needed

  • Kosher salt and fresh pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Prepare Mushrooms: Place mushroom caps on the Baking/Drip Pan. Spray the rounded tops with oil and season with salt and pepper. Turn the mushrooms hole-side up.

  2. Stuff Mushrooms: Divide the shredded Swiss cheese and chopped bacon evenly among the mushroom caps.

  3. Position in Oven: Place the pan in the oven in the middle rack position.

  4. Set Cooking Function: Set the Timer Knob to 8 minutes, Temperature Knob to 450°F, and Function Knob to Air Fry.

  5. Cook: Air-fry for 4 minutes, then rotate the pan and continue air-frying for an additional 4 minutes, or until the mushrooms have softened and the cheese is completely melted and bubbly.

  6. Serve: Carefully remove from the oven and let cool for 1-2 minutes before serving.

Chef's Tip: For extra flavor, mix a teaspoon of finely chopped fresh thyme or parsley with the cheese and bacon filling. Make sure to pat the mushroom caps dry before stuffing to ensure they roast rather than steam. For a crispier top, you can broil for the final 1-2 minutes.
