The addition of smoked paprika adds a subtle, smoky depth that elevates these onion rings from ordinary to extraordinary. Best of all, they're ready in just 10 minutes using the FRENCH FRIES function of your Plum Chef oven.
Whether you're serving them as an appetizer, side dish, or snack, these baked onion rings are sure to impress with their perfect texture and delicious flavor. Let's get cooking!
Prepare Onions: Rinse the onion and cut into approximately 1cm thick rings. Carefully separate the rings from each other.
Prepare Pan: Line the Baking Pan with aluminum foil and brush with a layer of canola oil. Set aside.
Dry Mixture: Combine the flour, salt, and smoked paprika in a medium bowl. Stir well to combine.
Wet Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine the egg, milk, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until well blended.
Coating Process: Set up your coating station with three bowls: flour mixture, egg mixture, and breadcrumbs. First, coat each onion ring in the flour mixture. Second, dip into the egg mixture, then finally coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs. Transfer to the prepared baking pan.
Baking: Arrange the coated onion rings in a single layer on the baking pan. Put the baking pan into rack Position 2. Set to FRENCH FRIES function at 200°C for 10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Serve: Remove from oven and serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Chef's Tip: For extra crispy onion rings, make sure to shake off any excess coating between each step and avoid overcrowding the pan. This ensures even air circulation and perfect browning.
